Kwantlen Park Secondary School in Surrey is committed to take a year long journey to achieve the Stigma-Free Zone designation. Students from Kwantlen Park are organizing a ‘Balancing our Minds’ mental health fair in with the support of school counsellors. Students designated as Stigma-Free Champions will also lead the development of a survey that identifies the most important mental health needs in their school. Andrea Paquette, President, Stigma-Free Society, presents to hundreds of students every year at Kwantlen Park Secondary.
Kwantlen Park Secondary School’s head of counselling department, Christ Black, states, “Kwantlen Park is excited to be working collaboratively with the team at the Stigma Zone Society to create a Stigma Free Zone school. It is hoped that participating in this initiative will help foster open communication and education around mental health that will help support our school and surrounding community.”
